National Pet Month

I've missed it...and I've overlooked World Hamster Day. I'll have to invent my own celebration...

April is National Pet Month here in the United kingdom. If only I'd found out sooner...it's almost over... Still, it's not too late to make sure my humans treat me especially well over the next few days.

The only worry is that my small humans are sometimes called "pet" by their Mum. If we celebrate Pet Month, I might have to share my treats.

I have seen people on the Internet mentioning World Hamster Day, which coincides with Israel Aharoni's capture of Syrian hamsters in 1930. But I've missed that too as it's on April 12th.

Various National Hamster Days have been referenced, one on May 10th and another on August 26th. They're probably more wishful thinking than actual events, but I might insist on having a special treat on those days anyway.

Of course, those of you lucky enough to have a hamster in your life should celebrate the fact every day!
