Title: New Catholic Mission - £20,000 Project at Marton

1933 newspaper cutting about the laying of a foundation stone at St John Vianney's Church

On Sunday afternoon (as announced in the Church Notes) the Bishop of Lancaster (Dr. J. W. Pearson) will lay the foundation stone of a new Catholic school at Marton which will become the nucleus of a new mission, cut off from St. Cuthbert’s Church.

The cost of the land and the structure, Canon E. Lupton told a Blackpool Times reporter yesterday, will be £20,000. The structure will serve as both an elementary and 'plus 11' school, and the school hall will serve the purposes of a chapel for the time being, until the building of the church and the house is undertaken.
